Technical Product Management Recruiting
Wizhire recruits Senior, Staff, and Principal Technical Product Managers from Latin America. A Technical PM differs from a general PM in one critical way: they can participate in architecture and design discussions as a peer, not a spectator. They push back on over-engineering, detect hand-waving in technical estimates, and make scope trade-offs that account for technical complexity.
The Distinction: Feature Factory vs. Product Thinker
A feature factory PM takes requests from stakeholders, writes specs, and tracks delivery. A product thinker identifies problems, validates them, defines strategy, makes trade-offs, and measures outcomes. Feature factory PMs cap at IC3 regardless of experience. Product thinkers start at IC3 and scale.
The first question in any PM interview should reveal which side the candidate is on: "Tell me about a product decision you made and why." If the answer is about a feature they shipped rather than a problem they solved, that's the signal.
Data literacy separates levels. A Senior Technical PM who cannot write a SQL query or design an A/B test is below bar for this discipline.
